MISSION STATEMENT
PEL is pledged to fulfil all the contractual obligations in its true spirit, for the welfare of the local community in its all Concessions/Lease areas.
STRATEGY/METHODOLOGY
PEL has evolved a well-knit strategy through need assessment surveys, personal contacts with the stakeholders. Local Administration, notables of the area and by coordinating with the NGOs working in the area. The programmes thus evolved preferably focus to redress the immediate difficulties and to meet such requirements leading to long lasting effect on the socio-economic uplift of the peoples of the area.
PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED
After necessary “Need Assessment Survey”, discussions held with the local communities in Block-22 area, PEL agreed to the request received through local Administration (DCO/Nazim) to help the HMB Trust’s Institute of Science & Technology, Shikarpur for construction of eight additional class rooms (against earlier proposal of four rooms) within the existing premises of the Institute at a total cost of Rs. 2.2 million. Now these eight class rooms stand completed and are being fully utilized by the Institute.
In addition, PEL has extended clean drinking water facilities to various schools, public library, basic health units, hospitals, colleges etc. of Shikarpur city, Garhi Yasin, Rustam, Taluka Lakhi through provision of electric water coolers.
p>So far PEL has provided and got installed 12 such electric water coolers in Shikarpur area, Mirpur Mathelo and Jacobabad districts at a total cost of about Rs.0.4 million. Total expenditure incurred so far are US$42,673.
WAY FORWARD
PEL has the plan to extend this facility to other various educational institutions, hospitals, basic health units, public libraries and public places on priority basis.
