Spud in of Kandra deep well-4
 Petroleum Exploration (Pvt) Ltd has achieved another milestone in its effort to enhance the production of Oil and Gas in Pakistan by drilling first Exploratory Deep Well. A brand new Drilling Rig from Weatherford International has been mobilized from Houston, USA for drilling a number of exploration wells back to back.
This rig was imported, moved to the well location in district Khairpur, rig up was completed, all rig components were commissioned and found to be in perfect working conditions. It is medium depth modern rig of 1500 Horse Power and is equipped with Top Drive.
The first Well Kandra-4 Deep was spud in by the Grace of Almighty Allah on August 16, 2008 with the primary objective of testing Lower Goru Sands of Early Cretaceous age. The total planned depth of the well is 2350 meters plus. Testing and coring programs are planned on the target intervals at Lower Goru Sand level, once the well reaches the planned depth.
 PEL is the operator of the exploration concession with 47.5% working interest. Other Joint Venture Partners include Frontier Holdings (Pvt) Ltd 47.5% and Government Holdings (Pvt) Ltd 5%. The latter is carried for expenses during exploration phase.
There is a good prospect of finding significant gas reserves if the well results in a discovery.
